Son-in-Law Cheena shares..

Although she was my mother-in-law, we used to call each other by first name which shows our familiarity and closeness! During 1988 when she visited me in Singapore and stayed with me for a month when I was alone, one day she asked me to take her to a shop selling Art materials and Brushes. I took her to a well-known shop where she got Art Painting colours and Brushes. After returning Home she wanted my preference for drawing and painting any Deity of my choice. Same day she started Drawing, colouring and painting a “FLUTE KRISHNA” of my choice - which she did in 3 or 4 days! Amazing interest! Framed Painting attached! Talking about her deep interest in creative ideas and things, here’s one more. During her early days of married life in MUSIRI, she had a desire to display replica of her Father’s Arasalur Big House(பெரியாம்) in her yearly Navarathri KOLU. She had approached her Chithiya( my father) who was well known Creative Artist to make one Replica of that பெரியாம் in Cardboard which he prepared one for her. For ages, year after year, she used to display this Work in her KOLU – with surroundings of a village to make it look like her Father’s Bangalow in ARASALUR AGRAHARAM! What a Creative thinking at such a young Age! She was always ahead of her times, in Creativity - be it Drawing, Painting, photography or Embroidery work or Tailoring. Wherever and whenever I hear someone talking about her , what echoes in my mind is her homely and affectionate voice asking me, “ஜூடா (சூடாக என்பதன் தமாஷ்), Crisp'பா, ஒரு தோசை பண்ணட்டுமா உனக்கு ?!”
