Grandson Cheenu shares...
I remember Patti standing for hours at the kitchen window of the ground floor flat at Krishna Apartments, P.H. Road, Egmore monitoring the entrance like her own personal CCTV system.
That window gave her a clear view of every visitor and resident who came in and went out — nothing escaped her “surveillance network.”
If there had been a monthly award for neighborhood intelligence, Patti would have won it every single time, hands down! 😄
Coming to Dharmapuri for summer vacation meant sweating it out in the heat, and entering a zone where schedules, manners, and early wake-up alarms were non-negotiable.
I remember getting shouted at for learning cycling from Sundaram, the gardener, and the joy of mastering cycling vanished into thin air instantly.
Even today, whenever I see a bicycle, I still hear Patti’s voice echoing 😄
