Nephew Kannan writes...

It was my misfortune that I did not get to spend much time with either of your parents, Dr. Venkatachari mama and Kamala mami. In my fleeting interactions with them when we visited Dharmapuri as a family or when I visited them with Appa in Chennai they came across to me as gracious and dignified and also endearing and affectionate. More of them I got to see through the eyes of my parents. Appa (Kasturi) cherished the time he spent visiting your parents’ home as a college student. He was really attached to your whole family including you Aruna and Padma whom he would have seen as children. Both Appa and Amma (Lakshmi) found your family and in particular your mother Kamala to be a medium to connect with our traditions and culture, which they missed because of their work-life situation. Amma really admired your mothers independence, ability to travel on her own, her modern views, her wide interests and her talent with handicrafts. Finally I would like say that I am really touched that you are remembering her on her 100th birthday this way. Affly, Kannan
